Job Description

The Senior Platform Specialist provides technical oversight, develops technical solutions, and delivers high-quality requirements. This Platform Specialist will follow methodologies for systems and project governance, leverage tools & techniques to capture business and functional requirements, and use approved corporate documentation templates for SDLC documentation. Role spans the Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Technical Development applications within the PO&T IT Quality and Lab Automation Systems portfolio.

Major Role Key Activities:

  • Resolve application development issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop processes, SOP’s, systems to support applications and equipment in a GxP environment.
  • Partner with Run organization to ensure existing systems are meeting stability, performance, and capacity requirements.
  • Perform platform management duties within assigned responsibilities of the project team.
  • Develop new applications or make enhancements according to project needs.
  • Ensure Testing Center of Excellence is leveraged appropriately for testing activities to ensure solution quality.
  • Evaluates technical options against a strategy and helps deliver the optimal solution for the project.
  • Reviews the work of the vendors and rejects work if the quality is not at required level.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements.

Plan & Manage:

  • Work with team of internal and external 3rd party technical resources performing analysis, design, configuration, development, testing, and deployment activities for our applications.
  • Participates in technical review of business processes with IT System Owners, Business Process Owners and Subject Matter Experts to establish a deep understanding of business requirements.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.

Build & Test:

  • Ownership of development, technical testing, deployment plan, and transition to Run.
  • Utilize programming principles, tools, and techniques to write application codes.
  • Ensure internal and external 3rd party resources comply with SDLC methodology to ensure the delivery of highly scalable and secure solutions that are optimized for performance.
  • Ensures application changes follow documented user and functional requirements, and business process maps when available.
  • May author design documentation and perform application development as required.
  • Perform informal testing of application development and support formal testing.
  • Prepare test cases and strategies for unit testing and integration testing.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 4 to 7+ years of experience working with life sciences systems such as LabWare LIMS/ELN, Empower CDS, IDBS ELN, and Crystal Reports.
  • Systems validation experience, especially experience that leverages technology as part of the solution.
  • Experience working on projects in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

Minimum Knowledge Requirements:

  • B.S. degree (in science, engineering or computer science/programming), with related business discipline experience.
  • Understands the technology offerings applicable to the business when assisting in the design of solutions.
  • Has knowledge of and utilizes software lifecycle methodologies, SLDC, Waterfall, Agile, etc.
