Release of Agilent OpenLAB Version 3.3

Today, the Agilent OpenLAB Laboratory Software Framework was released and manufacturing shipments were started. Agilent is now delivering the world’s first commercial platform capable of managing laboratory instrumentation, content, and laboratory workflows through a single, integrated .NET framework – Agilent OpenLAB.

Announcements on the release of Agilent OpenLAB are being made to our existing customers, prospects, OEM partners, and sales groups, many of whom have been waiting for the release and will now be taking forward steps for implementation.

The development and release of Agilent OpenLAB was achieved through the remarkable team efforts of our Software Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Operations, and Marketing groups in Pleasanton.  Virtually everyone in the Pleasanton site was involved in the development of this strategically important and unique product. Many people in Agilent’s LSCA units in Little Falls and Waldbron worked with us as well.  Special thanks and congratulations to Soheil Saadat, whose vision and relentless drive constantly inspired everyone to make Agilent OpenLAB a reality and remains a key guiding point for our future informatics directions.

Agilent OpenLAB Laboratory Software Framework version 3.3 provides:

  • Instrument control and data processing of laboratory instruments including the Agilent HPLC, Agilent GC, Waters HPLC, and Shimadzu HPLC and GC instrumentation through web clients.  Additional instrument control plug-ins supporting different instrumentation from leading manufacturers such as Hitachi, Varian, Thermo Electron, PerkinElmer and others are slated for release in the coming months.

  • Enterprise Content Management of all instrument results, as well as other electronic content from users including Microsoft Office, Adobe pdf files, email, graphics images, and more.

  • Content Integration of third party instruments and data systems such as Agilent’s ChemStation products into the OpenLAB platform to make all data secure, protected, and fully searchable.

  • Integration of laboratory workflows with an optional Business Process Management capability to automatically pass information among users, manage instrument maintenance schedules and further improve laboratory efficiency.

Agilent OpenLAB is the world’s first integrated .NET framework for the laboratory to directly control instruments, provide content management of all laboratory electronic information, and manage automate laboratory workflows.  Agilent’s vision is to deliver this strategic technology to enable all laboratories to make their intellectual property more secure, safer to share, and ultimately more valuable.

Agilent OpenLAB version 3.3 is available for immediate delivery and is backed by Agilent’s global Sales, Services and professional Support organization to ensure successful customer deployments worldwide.
