Request for Information, VistA Laboratory Information System (LIS)

This Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit preliminary information from vendors who have relevant solutions and services which may be required by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for a Clinical Laboratory and Anatomic Pathology initiative.

An upgraded Laboratory Information System (LIS) is needed to support Clinical Laboratory and Anatomic Pathology business processes for VA. Currently VA manages lab test orders, specimen collection, processing and lab test results reporting using separate Information Technology (IT) systems, with separate data repositories and complex sharing processes. The core functionality provided is outdated and needs to be improved. In addition, the Laboratory application is not easily extended or modified, nor does it allow for easy integration with desired capabilities such as decision support systems. VA intends to procure the necessary Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) technology and associated services that allow the LIS to meet the short-term and long-term goals of VistA Evolution described in the RFI attachments.

The RFI contains a spreadsheet which serves as the RFI Questionnaire. The spreadsheet contains tabs for: General Questions, Functional Requirements, and Systems Requirements. VA requests that respondents fill in each of the tabs in which data is requested. Please do not add or modify cells.
