The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) “is seeking proposals from a laboratory to conduct an air quality study to determine the nature and source of particle fallout impacting a residential neighborhood. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques incorporating energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDS) will be used to compare the physical and chemical characteristics of ambient and source particulate matter (PM) to assess the potential impact of particle sources in the area with a focus on identifying and apportioning the contribution of coal.”
