“Currently, the Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) [of North Carolina] offers digital forensics and friction ridge. A chemist is on staff and the County is expanding to begin forensic toxicology and seized drug analysis. The goal of the County is to enhance and improve the quality, timeliness and scope of its forensic laboratory services. The LIMS will provide improved time savings from receipt of requests to reporting, provide for quality assurance management in accordance with ISO 17025 standards for all disciplines and move toward a paperless laboratory to reduce time spent on administrative tasks which will reduce turnaround times and increase technical productivity. The County desires to put in place a turn-key, modern, state-of-the-art Forensic Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).”
