The Fertilizer Research and Education Program (FREP) if the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) exists to help provide growers and industry with cost-effective proactices to imporve the efficient use of fertilizer and minimize environmental impacts. FREP is accepting proposals for two topic areas: 1) assessment of algal-available phosphorus loads in runoff form irrigated agriculture in the Central Valley of California; and 2) nitrate sampling of groundwater irrigation wells and associated field discharges in Santa Maria River and Oso Flaco watersheds. The funding limit is $50,000 per year for up to three years. Any individual or group may submit a proposal. Refer to the electronic 2006 RFP as well as the 2006 Project Requirements.
