Research Associate II
Organovo’s Therapeutics team is seeking a Research Associate II.
Research Associate II Responsibilities:
Conducts focused independent experiments under the direction and guidance of a project scientist and/or the program leader
Performs general lab work supporting the Therapeutics group including cell culture, preparation of 3D bio-ink, bioprinting, and maintenance and analysis of printed constructs
Conducts mammalian cell culture including initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation
Takes part in conducting basic animal pharmacology experiments
Basic operation of a NovoGen MMX bioprinter
Generation and maintenance of three-dimensional (3D) tissue constructs
Performs cell-based assays including ELISA, DNA quantitation, and metabolic assays
Basic data management and processing, communication of results, and record-keeping
Writing SOPs to describe new laboratory techniques and procedures
Analysis of primary data with subsequent data report writing
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Research Associate II Skills & Experience:
BA/BS, MA/MS or equivalent degree in Biology, Physiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience with preference for experience in industry
Demonstrated experience in mammalian cell culture, particularly with primary cell lines and stem cells and working in a biosafety cabinet
In vivo animal model experience is a plus
Experience conducting common laboratory assays such as western blotting, qPCR, ELISA
Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary groups in a fast-paced work environment
Easily masters complex technical equipment
Communicates well in oral and written format, and possesses adequate computer skills for word processing and data management
An aptitude for working well with others
Self-motivated and ability to work independently
Task-oriented, organized and driven to produce results with aggressive timelines
Comfortable learning new areas of biology/science
Detail-oriented
Fast learner; adaptable
