Rosetta Biosoftware Announces the Formation of a Scientific Advisory Board to Advance Future Development and Scientific Research

SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 23, 2006–Rosetta Biosoftware announced today the formation of a Scientific Advisory Board to provide guidance for the future development and commercialization of products in the area of proteomics. The Scientific Advisory Board comprises the following individuals: Dr. Ruedi Aebersold, Dr. Ronald C. Hendrickson, and Dr. Yoshiya Oda.

“We are honored that these scientific leaders have agreed to serve as members of Rosetta Biosoftware’s Scientific Advisory Board for proteomics,” said Yelena Shevelenko, vice president and general manager of Rosetta Biosoftware. “Our company is committed to providing a software solution for proteomics to support end-to-end data analysis and management workflows, and enable research that improves the quality of human life. The formation of this prestigious scientific advisory board is an important step for guiding the future development of our Rosetta Elucidator(R) proteomics system.”

Dr. Ruedi Aebersold is a professor at the Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH) and the University of Zurich, and is also a co-founder and current faculty member of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, Washington, USA. His group has developed multiple methods, including isotope-coded affinity tag (ICAT) reagents for quantitative mass spectrometry and the Trans Proteomic Pipeline, a suite of software tools for the analysis of proteomic data. These methods have widespread applications in both analytical protein chemistry and proteomics. Dr. Aebersold has published numerous seminal papers that have influenced the field of proteomics.

Dr. Ronald C. Hendrickson is the Director of Proteomics in the department of Molecular Profiling at Merck Research Laboratories in Rahway, New Jersey. Currently, he is applying state-of-the-art mass spectrometry techniques to rapidly identify and quantify changes in proteins related to disease or therapeutic agents. Before joining Merck Research Laboratories, Dr. Hendrickson contributed to expanding large scale protein-protein interaction studies using yeast as a model organism at MDS Proteomics (now Protana) and served as the chairman of the MDS Proteomics-Harvard Partners Joint Steering Committee to promote the development and commercialization of innovative healthcare products.

Dr. Yoshiya Oda is a senior scientist at the Laboratory of Seeds Finding Technology, Eisai Co., Ltd., Tokyo and a visiting associate professor at the Metabolome Laboratory, Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Tokyo. Dr. Oda developed a widely used metabolic labeling method for quantitative proteomics, which is featured in the most frequently cited article from the Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences-Chemistry journal. Dr. Oda’s research has won awards from the Society for Chromatographic Sciences, the Mass Spectrometry Society of Japan, and the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.

About the Rosetta Elucidator System

The Elucidator system’s advanced data management capabilities allow users to effectively organize, search for, and retrieve raw and processed protein expression data. The application serves as a core integrator for proteomics research by working directly with select instrument APIs, sample annotation systems, and common protein ID search engines. In addition, it provides a suite of advanced statistical analysis and visualization tools for data mining and discovery of potential protein biomarkers and proteins that are differentially expressed among different phenotypes or drug treatments. The Elucidator system combines these data management and analysis capabilities with the flexibility of a highly customizable environment: users can incorporate organization-specific workflows into customized visual scripts that leverage Elucidator system statistical tools and customer-proprietary algorithms, as well as those available in the public domain. The Rosetta Elucidator product line is available in flexible configurations, designed to meet the needs of both large and small organizations.
