SAIC Teams with Software Control International on Department of Energy IT Contract

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) today announced a teaming arrangement with Software Control International (SCI) to compete for the information technology (IT) support services contract at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge facilities.

SAIC has held the contract for five years, providing IT support to DOE management contractors UT-Battelle, BWXT Y-12 and Bechtel Jacobs. The contract is open for competition as a small business set aside. SCI is a woman-owned small business located in Washington, D.C.

“We are pleased to have SAIC as our teammate in support of this contract,” said Lynette Spano-Wiest, SCI’s president and chief executive officer. “This marks the culmination of many years of hard work by our entire organization.  We are committed to providing IT services to the DOE as well as continuing to support the community of Oak Ridge.”

“The contract involves technical and data network support, cyber security and a broad range of business applications to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Y-12 National Security Complex and the East Tennessee Technology Park,” said Larry Peck, president of SAIC’s Enterprise and Infrastructure Solutions Group. “SAIC is familiar with the DOE’s IT needs and we are confident that SCI, who has worked with SAIC on this contract since it’s award in 1999, is the most qualified small business to provide this critical support service.”

SAIC’s current staff, including more than 300 Oak Ridge-based employees, would continue to support this work as part of the SAIC/SCI team. Such support includes both classified and unclassified work in the areas of network services and voice communications support; communications and computing services; desktop services and help desk support; computer operations, server management, and database administration and management; and other general IT services.

Software Control International (SCI) was founded in 1983 as a Hispanic woman-owned business and is currently certified as a small disadvantaged business by the Small Business Administration. SCI’s corporate headquarters are located in Alexandria, Va., and maintains field offices in Washington D.C., Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Rockville, Md.  Since it was founded, SCI has provided IT support to the DOE and many other federal agencies. More information about SCI can be found at www.sciworld.com .
