SciQuest and GlaxoSmithKline to Present at the European Purchase-to-Pay Summit 2006

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., September 5, 2006 – SciQuest, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand supplier management and procurement automation solutions, today announced that it will partner with GlaxoSmithKline to present at the European Purchase-to-Pay Summit in Paris on September 6th.  Gregg Brandyberry, GSK’s vice president of procurement, global systems, and operations, along with Suzanne Miglucci, vice president of marketing and strategic alliances, will discuss best practices in global procurement and supplier enablement strategies.

The presentation, entitled ‘Centralizing Your P2P Processes On A European And Global Level’, will highlight the value of implementing procurement best practices on a global basis.  Brandyberry will share goals, experiences, and benefits of implementing e-procurement globally across GSK.  Participants can expect to learn:

          Key strategies to globalizing e-procurement

Opportunities and challenges of expanding e-procurement from the US to the UK and beyond

Benefits gained with common worldwide processes including spend management, contract compliance, overall savings, end-user adoption of electronic processes and supplier consolidation

With nearly $3 billion flowing through its system in the US and UK alone, more than 120 available catalogs, and an average of 3000 unique users buying each month, GSK recognized the need to install a uniform and automated procurement process on a global level, Following a successful rollout in the US and UK in 2001, GSK looked to extend e-procurement globally.

“By implementing a global e-procurement program, we eliminated paper purchase orders, streamlined our procurement operations, and greatly improved contract compliance in catalog-rich supply categories,” Brandyberry noted.  “Most importantly, we captured our total US/UK e-procurement project costs in less than 12 months.”

Brandyberry is responsible for the development and implementation of web-enabled decision support systems, e-sourcing and e-procurement.  In addition, he is responsible for supplier diversity, procurement compliance and the electronic bidding and negotiation of over $4 billion in spend through a best practice sourcing organization. In 2003, under Gregg’s leadership, GlaxoSmithKline was awarded the prestigious Charter Institute of Procurement and Supply award for “Best Use of Technology by a Procurement Organization”.

“GSK recognizes that centralized ownership of e-procurement tools is critical to maintaining best practices and standards on a global level,” said Miglucci.  “SciQuest is extremely proud to support their efforts in building a successful e-procurement program and revolutionizing globalization initiatives which can be applied by any organization of any size.”
