Siemens Medical Solutions and Zynx Health Announce Agreement; Zynx Health’s Evidence-based Nursing Content to be Integrated Into Siemens Clinical Information Systems

Siemens Medical Solutions, one of the largest suppliers to the healthcare industry in the world, and Zynx Health Incorporated, a leading developer of electronic evidence-based knowledge products, announce they have signed a strategic agreement that will support providers’ patient safety and quality initiatives through the integration of Zynx Health clinical nursing content with Siemens clinical applications.

Under the agreement, Siemens will incorporate Zynx Health’s nursing evidence into Siemens clinical applications, with special emphasis on established nursing performance measures, their impact and associated process issues.

“Our relationship with Zynx Health enables us to provide evidence based nursing knowledge at the point of decision making – where it is needed most – and provides a foundation for measuring the contribution of nursing care to patient outcomes,” said Rosemary Kennedy, MBA, RN, chief nursing informatics officer, Siemens Medical Solutions. “Siemens is committed to continuously incorporating new knowledge into our clinical solutions to support the delivery of safe, quality patient care.”

Added Kennedy, “By providing the right knowledge at the right time, we will help institutions deliver the most appropriate care to their patients, and assist nurses at all levels by turning evidence into practice and facilitating compliance with regulatory and credentialing requirements.”

“As we work to advance the nursing profession and help improve the quality of care delivered to patients and their families, the collaboration between Siemens and Zynx will enable organizations to push evidenced-based nursing care to clinicians while reducing the time and effort required to develop, maintain, and update interdisciplinary plans of care,” added Gail Latimer, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer, Siemens Medical Solutions. “Specific attention to established nursing performance measures will help focus nursing activities on those with the greatest potential impact on clinical care delivery.”

Zynx Health has an established history of applying the most rigorous evidence-based methodology for inpatient conditions. The company has leveraged this background to create content targeted toward the critical roles of nurses in providing care.

Zynx Health, a subsidiary of The Hearst Corporation, is the leading developer of evidence-based medicine knowledge products. Zynx Health delivers the latest scientific research results and best-practice guidelines for individual providers; healthcare organizations, including more than 800 hospitals nationwide; and organizations enrolled in pay-for-performance incentive programs (e.g., the CMS-Premier demonstration project). By integrating this knowledge into CPOE systems, healthcare providers can readily deliver evidence-based care – improving the quality of care, lowering costs and reducing medical errors -thereby enhancing patient safety.
