Job Description
OMNITEC Solutions, Inc., (www.omnitecinc.com) has multiple employment opportunities available for mid-level Software Testers and QA Engineers in Rockville, Maryland (20850) as our support team continues to grow in support of our recent 5 year contract award (see our press release for mere details). OMNITEC was awarded this additional work to expand its model research data sharing / computational science infrastructure (see data-archive.nimh.nih.gov) in support of neurosciences research at the NIH.
This is a unprecedented opportunity to use your skills helping advance our understanding of the brain by validating software and data in a highly complex informatics infrastructure supporting neurosciences research. You will be testing data, services, and applications using advanced tools ensuring data accuracy across a complex systems infrastructure.
Please Note: All candidates must be US citizens and able to pass an MBI/Public Trust investigation in order to access federal job sites and systems. DC/MD/VA metropolitan area based candidates are required.
Duties and Responsibilities
We need a "doer" to help monitor, identify and resolve web application challenges. No one is expected to understand everything in this highly complex environment. However, the ideal candidate will have technical savvy to lead and extend our test automation efforts by:
- working with developers, system engineers, project managers, and internal clients to lead and perform integration and regression testing;
- locating UI elements and comparing expected test results against actual application behavior on multiple browser platforms;
- automating web applications for testing purposes;
- creating robust, browser-based regression automation suites and tests;
- scale and distribute scripts across many environments;
- create quick bug reproduction scripts;
- create scripts to aid in automation-aided exploratory testing;
- Present Monitoring/Test Results and Reports as required;
Required Skills
- a 2 or 4-year degree in a Scientific or Technical discipline is preferred;
- 6+ years of professional experience in IT, with 3+ years application and system Testing in a Linux/Unix and AWS/cloud environment (not Windows).
- 2+ year hands-on utilization of Selenium or similar automated tool (ie: Selenium Web Driver, Selenium RC, Selenium Grid, Selenium IDE and/or Selenese) for authoring / writing automated test scripts and plans for web applications;
- Demonstrated experience writing test scripts using advanced SQL
- Flexibility and perspective to understand the environment is evolving and able to understand how to apply yourself for the betterment of the project.
- The ability to work collaboratively on projects with an intensely goal oriented team;
- US citizenship and ability to pass an MBI/Public Trust investigation required in order to access federal job sites and systems.
- Dedication to long term career in data and applications quality.
Helpful Skills
- Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or similar cloud infrastructure experience;
- any additional skills with data management and/or SQL;
- general familiarity with IA compliance, accreditation, certification, etc is a plus;
- past experience with any Scripting languages/tools;
- familiarity with Postman tools
