Medical Physicist:
Advocate Health Care is seeking a full-time Medical Physicist for our Sherman Hospital location in Elgin, IL.
Position: Medical Physicist Radiation Oncology– Full-Time Day Shift
Some travel, irregular or extended hours may be required

Medical Physicist Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provision of operational aspects of Medical Physics.
- Assist in planning for resource allocation with radiation oncology, radiology and other areas that use radiation producing equipment.
- Provide physics services to the Radiation Oncology Department in accordance with the highest standards of practice and as required by regulatory agencies.
- Provide physics services to the Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Departments.
- Implement, maintain and supervise the Radiation Safety Program in hospital and associated facilities to meet or exceed all State and Federal laws and rules.
- Stay abreast of new radiotherapeutic and diagnostic technology.
- Calibration of radioactive sources and radiation producing equipment.
- Develop and implement QC programs and policies for radiation equipment and patient treatment that uses radiation producing equipment.
Skills Required:
- Ability to maintain interaction with the medical physics community.
- Ability to do medium lifting (Lifting up to 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly), in order to do radiation measurements using phantoms.
- Display a strong understanding and ability to use all types of radiation measuring devices.
- Ability to learn and use treatment planning computer systems.
Experience Required:
MS in Physics or Medical Physics with 1 year of experience in a clinical setting. Eligible for board certification by the American Board of Radiology in one or more areas of Medical Physics
