Spectra QEST software being used on US$1bn DFW Connector road project in Texas

(24 June 2010) Spectra QEST announces that its software is being used to test construction materials on the US$1.02 billion DFW Connector road project in Texas, USA.

The Texas Department of Transport (TxDOT) is undertaking a US$1.02 billion road upgrade near the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The project includes the reconstruction and expansion of two major highway interchanges along four highways, with a total of 5 bridges. At its widest point, (and including frontage roads), State Highway 114 will consist of up to 24 lanes (12 lanes in each direction).

Professional Service Industries, Inc (PSI), one of the United States’ largest engineering and testing companies, will use Spectra QEST’s construction materials testing software (QESTLab™) to manage some US$12m worth of materials testing on the project.

“Being able to provide accurate and timely test results is vital to ensuring that a multi-million dollar project like this one stays on schedule, and QESTLab™ will significantly boost PSI’s ability to do this.” said Professional Service Industries CFO Marshall Hammack.

In addition, the software will allow PSI to automatically post the test data into the TxDOT’s I2MS system, which handles the TxDOT’s Federal Highways compliance requirements.

The use of the QESTLab™ system on this project is another milestone in a string of successes that Spectra QEST has achieved in promoting its software around the world.

“This project is significant for us, because it continues to build on the excellent relationship we have with PSI. In addition, we see this project as the perfect opportunity to prove the capabilities of our software to some of the largest construction companies in the US” said Spectra QEST Director Stephan Mavrakis.

Spectra QEST’s software is currently being used by companies in Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America and in the Middle East.
