STARLIMS Launches Version 11 LIMS Software

New Capabilities for Mobile Devices, HTML5 and Advanced Analytics

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., August 21, 2013 – STARLIMS today announced the launch of Version 11 Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) software, available now worldwide.  Based on Abbott’s Informatics Solutions, Version 11 will expand user functionality to include mobile device applications, advanced analytics and HTML5 compatibility.  These features will allow STARLIMS users to work on the right screen for the task with an expanded platform to access LIMS information anywhere. “STARLIMS helps laboratories organize and analyze vast amounts of data across multiple industries, and our new Version 11 software will enable every customer to develop cutting edge  apps for their operations.  Apps will be offered out of the box and enable users to start up quickly,” said Dave Champagne, Divisional Vice President of Abbott Informatics Solutions.  “Version 11 software enables STARLIMS customers to do the right work on the right screen.  Labs can leverage the advantages of mobile devices to secure access to LIMS data anywhere and help make decisions faster.”

Mobile Device Applications
STARLIMS v11 software creates forms to run on alternative browsers and includes a single mobile application to support STARLIMS systems.  The software allows users to access STARLIMS on Chrome, Safari and other alternative browsers to display LIMS information on tablet computers and smart phones.  Two new control libraries are included in STARLIMS v11 software: one for forms to be run on desktop computers running alternate browsers and the other with controls on tablets and smart phones that use touch screens. The touch controls comply with specifications by Apple for i-Pads and i-Phones. “Our new mobile offerings will provide reliable remote functionality for phone and tablet applications,” said Dave Champagne, DVP of AIS.  “This innovation provides laboratories with broad functionality and unprecedented remote LIMS access and versatility.” He added that selecting the right screen for the task enables lab managers to provide clients on-the-spot access to lab test results and reports, authorize lab results and release remotely, and record observations during field inspections.

Advanced Analytics
STARLIMS Version 11 software offer users advanced analytics capabilities with out-of the-box dashboards that can make an immediate impact on laboratory operations, such as optimizing workflow and identifying bottlenecks.  Viewing data from powerful visualizations provided by STARLIMS Advanced Analytics provides insights and trends to help make better decisions. “With the powerful data engine of STARLIMS analytics you can access dashboards from anywhere, from any device, when you need it,” said Dave Champagne. STARLIMS Advanced Analytics, planning considerations rapidly can be turned into actionable solutions by proving ready answers to endless ‘what if?’ questions.  A lab considering a new test for its clinical menu, for example, would want to analyze potential revenue and profitability.  With advanced analytics, financial projections, profit and loss estimates and workflow and productivity data can be accessed on the spot for prompt analysis and decision making. STARLIMS Advanced Analytics also can be an effective problem solving tool to map out processes and find and correct workflow bottlenecks to help improve efficiency and response times.

HTLM5 Compatibility
With STARLIMS Version 11 software, existing XFD forms running on Internet Explorer will continue to be the primary platform, but users will have the ability to create proprietary HTML5-based forms to run on alternative browsers.
