SupplyScape Licenses Electronic Pedigree Software to Pfizer to Enhance Drug Product Security

E-Pedigree™ provides a secure chain of custody for a prescription drug by creating an electronic record or pedigree to trace each distribution of a given drug, from the first sale by the manufacturer until the final sale to a pharmacy dispensing the drug. E-Pedigree allows Pfizer to comply with the pedigree laws of all states, including California’s pedigree statute, and meet the requirements of the federal Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA). Built on open standards, E-Pedigree is one of the first electronic pedigree products to receive GS1 EPCglobal™ Drug Pedigree Messaging Standard certification status.
Pfizer’s plan to implement E-Pedigree expands their channel security initiatives, which also include SupplyScape’s RxAuthentication™ product authentication solution. RxAuthentication enables pharmacies and wholesalers to verify the authenticity and status of the serial number on packages of Pfizer’s Viagra® at any time prior to final dispensation to a patient.
