Symyx Technologies to Launch New Symyx Discovery Tools Module at AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition
Symyx Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:SMMX) announced today that Symyx scientists will be introducing the new Symyx Discovery Tools(R) Extended Core Module (XCM) at the 2005 American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Annual Meeting and Exposition this week in Nashville, TN. The next generation XCM platform is a highly flexible, multi-arm, 3-axis robot which enhances the ability of customers to easily configure workflows in the field to meet their specific chemistry needs.
Symyx representatives will be giving demonstrations of the XCM at booth #1428, as well as showing Symyx’s Renaissance(R) Software, including software automation of the XCM and Symyx’s electronic laboratory notebook software. Symyx scientists will also demonstrate the Symyx Discovery Tools PPR(R), which accelerates catalyst research, and Eric Carlson of Symyx Technologies will be presenting a poster entitled “Automation of Batch Record Generation.”
Paul Nowak, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Symyx, said, “The introduction of the XCM marks an important advance in our Discovery Tools, enabling our Discovery Tools to provide the same flexibility we offer in software: both can now be readily adapted to meet the tailored, specific needs of our customers.”
Symyx Discovery Tools provides scientists in pharmaceutical development and in chemical and energy research organizations with the ability to use Symyx’s proprietary automated instruments to accelerate research by performing 10-100 experiments at a time. Discovery Tools automate entire research workflows, including areas such as liquid formulations, polymorph screening, process optimization and forced degradation. Symyx first introduced modularization of its Discovery Tools in January, 2004 with its CORE(x)(TM) workflow. By modularizing these systems, customers were able to get started with Symyx Discovery Tools through the purchase of a central, standardized robotic platform. Customers could then extend their workflows by adding additional synthesis or analytical modules over time. Through its unique architecture, the XCM extends the modular approach to the central robotic platform, allowing scientists to add unique functionality to the deck or arms through self-contained elements.
