Sysmex America Launches New Slide Preparation Unit
Sysmex America, Inc., a world leader in laboratory design, systemization and solutions, unveiled the automated SP-1000i Slide Preparation Unit at the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA) annual conference in Chicago. The SP-1000i boasts features such as a manual mode reducing sample size, seven staining variations, eight levels of smear thickness and barcode printing onto glass slides. The SP-1000i replaces the SP-100. Sysmex will continue to provide support to its current SP-100 customers.
The automated Sysmex SP-1000i Slide Preparation Unit features intuitive software, color touch screen and remote access capabilities. Automated error recovery and user friendly menus are two main features of the software that is part of the system. Shortly after product launch at CLMA, Sysmex Networking Customer Support (SNCS) will be added as a product feature to the SP-1000i, allowing Sysmex to remotely upgrade software and stain and smear settings via the Internet, reducing downtime. A web camera will also be an added diagnostic tool that will allow Sysmex to troubleshoot system issues quickly and efficiently.

The SP-1000i has been available in the Japanese market since the fourth quarter 2004 and in European markets since first quarter 2005.
