Systematic Naming Tools Deployed throughout Incyte via ACD/I-Lab: Intranet Edition

Toronto, Canada, January 12, 2004 –

Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc., (ACD/Labs) has successfully deployed their systematic naming tools throughout Incyte Corporation via their Interactive Laboratory tool, ACD/I-Lab.

ACD/I-Lab: Intranet Edition is the server-based chemical prediction and search technology that enables users within an organization to access the latest chemical databases and property prediction programs through their corporate intranet while eliminating the need to deploy desktop software on each machine.

Through integration between ACD/Labs and Synthematix®, Inc., users of Synthematix’s Arthur™ Suite reaction planning system are able to access selected ACD/I-Lab tools from within the Arthur synthetic chemistry environment. Arthur users can add the ability to predict the physicochemical properties of their molecular structures, predict the multinuclear NMR spectra of their reaction products, and generate chemical names, based on either IUPAC or CAS Index rules, to populate their structure databases with systematic nomenclature.

Incyte recently licensed Arthur Suite for their own medicinal chemists, as it offered the right mix of functionality and ease-of-use to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their drug discovery efforts. When it came time for Incyte to purchase a naming solution for their enterprise, ACD/I-Lab’s naming tools were the natural fit, as they offered not only the industry standard in naming capabilities, but a solution that could be fully integrated with their existing system.

Brian Metcalf, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Drug Discovery Scientist at Incyte, stated, “The integrated ACD/I-Lab naming tool allows our medicinal chemists to quickly and accurately generate IUPAC names within the Synthematix e-notebook for the reagents and compounds synthesized in our labs. We expect the ACD/I-Lab naming tool will increase the efficiency of our chemistry efforts.”

Antony Williams, Ph.D., V.P. Scientific Development and Marketing at ACD/Labs, adds, “ACD/Name is the quality standard in systematic nomenclature software. Deploying these algorithms via our ACD/I-Lab technology, and integrating to the Arthur Suite, offers chemists at Incyte seamless access to the industry standard naming software in a web-based environment. We are confident that Incyte chemists will truly benefit from the fruits of our collaboration.”
