The BioAnalytics Group and BIOSoftware Systems Provide Systems Biology Solution to Roche
The BioAnalytics Group (‘TBAG’) and BIOSoftware Systems (‘BSS’), through their joint partnership, are providing Roche with physiological models in their systems biology process for drug discovery.
Scientists from TBAG collaborate with Roche scientists to develop systems biology applications that feature the computer simulation of biological processes. This approach requires good communication between modeling scientists, who think mathematically, and laboratory scientists, who understand the biology. The software tools used must be powerful and intuitive to both modeling scientists and biologists. TBAG and Roche jointly chose BioPathway Explorer, a software solution provided by BSS. “BioPathway Explorer is a wonderful solution. It allows us to develop simulation models and data analysis technology and deliver them in a package that can be used easily at Roche.” said Scott Lett, President of TBAG.
The software allows the researchers to work interactively with the models in a user friendly environment, and encourages continued collaboration by presenting the models in a biologically oriented package. “BioPathway Explorer is an ideal platform for delivery of the models because it stores the mathematical description of the model while providing seamless access to additional notes and supporting information. This extra information provides the context necessary to fully understand the system,” commented Bob Thorn, president of BSS. From Roche’s perspective, Dr. Cristiano Migliorini stated that “We have chosen BioPathway Explorer because it is possible to develop complicated models very efficiently in a user friendly environment accessible to biological scientists.”
