The Wercs Automates GreenScreen™ Methodology
ALBANY, N.Y.–()–Organizations aiming to market safer chemicals and chemical formulations—or avoid regulatory challenges—can now automatically assess their ingredients against industry-accepted health and environmental data.
The Wercs, Ltd.’s safer chemistry software, GreenWERCS™, now incorporates the GreenScreen™ List Translator. The full GreenScreen™ for Safer Chemicals is a comprehensive hazard assessment and decision support method developed by the independent NGO, Clean Production Action. It enables users to assess chemical hazards, identify chemicals of concern and ultimately drive safer chemistry.
The GreenScreen™ List Translator is the portion of the GreenScreen method that is drawn from 850 hazard lists and 36 authoritative sources. The peer-reviewed GreenScreen methodology is aligned with national and international precedents including GHS, OECD testing protocols and European REACH legislation.
By combining the GreenScreen List Translator with GreenWERCS, users can quickly profile chemicals based on List Translator hazard classifications with a mouse click. According to Tom Carter, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at The Wercs, the development is important for organizations that do not have their own internal criteria and want to use an industry approach.

The system identifies specific hazard endpoints and hazard intensity (e.g. high, medium or low) for chemical product ingredients. The ranking is presented both graphically and in a tabular form, as an easy-to-read List Translator score.
