Thermo Electron Corporation Launches More Than Twenty New Products at PITTCON 2004
CHICAGO, March 8 — Thermo Electron Corporation, a premier supplier of products and services to the laboratory, announces it has expanded its offerings with more than twenty new products and solutions launched at the Pittsburgh Conference (PITTCON) in Chicago, the largest and most inclusive conference and exposition on laboratory science and instrumentation worldwide. Thermo helps customers with every aspect of their scientific and laboratory endeavors, and is showcasing integrated solutions that demonstrate greater sensitivity and throughput, ease-of-use, miniaturization, and speed.
“During 2003, we aligned our business priorities with what we felt would best serve our customers: continuing investment in R&D, building an integrated product portfolio, and pursuing strategic acquisitions,” explained Marijn Dekkers, chief executive officer of Thermo Electron Corporation. “Our acquisition of Jouan SA increases our presence in the sample preparation
equipment market, while the addition of Laboratory Management Systems, Inc. (LMSi) provides instrument validation and regulatory consulting so critical to customers today.”
The technology, expertise, and personnel Thermo has been built upon, combined with its strong investment in R&D, places the Company in a unique and optimal position to serve customers working in the laboratory. Thermo will be unveiling several new products built to respond to customer needs, including the Finnigan(TM) LC IsoLink, the first high precision interface for on-line LC/IRMS; the Finnigan vMALDI(TM) ion source for high-throughput proteomics; the Jouan KR25i, a high capacity, refrigerated centrifuge used in sample preparation; and Thermo’s new Nicolet(TM) Continuum(TM) XL, a research-grade FT-IR imaging system that provides high performance infrared sampling, excellent visible-light microscopy, and exceptional FT-IR imaging.
Marc Casper, president of Thermo Electron’s Life and Laboratory Sciences group said, “We have built a world-class organization with the primary mission of being the premier supplier to our customers in the lab. At PITTCON 2004, our customers will see the results of our hard work: highly sophisticated and user-friendly laboratory solutions, a simplified organization, and a team of talented, committed employees. When combining these critical pieces with an industry experiencing renewed strength, we are truly looking forward to a successful PITTCON and to a tremendous year ahead.”
Thermo’s new products span many areas of the laboratory, including sample preparation, molecular spectroscopy, elemental analysis, chromatography, mass spectrometry, material characterization, electrochemistry, and informatics.
The Company will also be highlighting its new service offerings, including New Labs, a consultative service to assist customers in setting up new laboratories and maximizing the performance of existing laboratories.
