Thermo Electron Unveils its Suite of Proteomics Instrumentation at HUPO 2005

Thermo Electron Corporation will be unveiling its Proteomicsn suite of instrumentation at HUPO 4th Annual World Congress, International Congress Centre Munich, Germany, August 28 to September 1 2005. Thermo will be previewing its latest additions to Proteomicsn – BioSIEVE software for large scale biomarker discovery experiments and its ProSightR PC software for top down protein analysis. Other products being showcased on booth 301 include the new breakthrough LTQ Orbitrap, the Finnigan LTQ FT, Finnigan v MALDI ion source and KingFisher 96. To d

Previewing at HUPO 2005 is Thermo’s BioSIEVE software which enables rigorous statistical comparison of multiple LC/MS datasets from sample populations in large biomarker discovery experiments. The software uses a proprietary, label-free quantitative algorithm, eliminating the need for expensive tagging reagents. A highly visual interface allows results and data to be reviewed easily, making it a powerful, yet practical tool for biomarker discovery.

Also previewing at the show is the new ProSight PC software, which when combined with the Finnigan LTQ FT hybrid mass spectrometer provides the ideal system for top-down protein sequencing. With ProSight PC, it is now possible to structurally identify individual protein isoforms with mass spectrometry.

Other products on display on booth 301 are the LTQ Orbitrap, the Finnigan LTQ FT, the Finnigan vMALDI ion source and Kingfisher 96. Launched at ASMS 2005 in June, the LTQ Orbitrap, a hybrid mass spectrometer offering superior performance for small molecule research, drug discovery, proteomics, metabolite identification, and metabolomics, represents the first totally new mass analyzer to be introduced to the market in over 20 years.

KingFisher 96 provides a rapid and reproducible solution for automation of the sample preparation step. KingFisher technology is based on magnetic beads and rods and it offers easy to use automation for various proteomics applications.
