Tripos Joins SciTegic’s ISV Program; Companies to Integrate Tripos’ Discovery Informatics Software and SciTegic’s Pipeline Pilot Application

SciTegic, the leader in data pipelining and workflow tools, and Tripos, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRPS), a leading provider of drug discovery chemistry and informatics products and services, announced today that Tripos has joined SciTegic’s independent software vendor (ISV) partner program to provide software compatibility between their product lines. Joint customers may now choose to access Tripos’ discovery informatics technology from within SciTegic’s Pipeline Pilot framework, leading to more efficient and repeatable discovery processes.

SciTegic pioneered the data pipelining technology for processing drug discovery data that is now employed by more than 150 pharmaceutical research organizations worldwide. Tripos is one of 12 ISV partners and, through the agreement, will receive training, consulting and support from SciTegic to achieve high-quality integration.

“Many of our customers already use Tripos’ software and find it to be critical to their discovery research processes,” said Mathew Hahn, Ph.D., vice president and general manager of SciTegic. “Through this partnership, our joint users will employ Tripos technologies in the workflow-centric Pipeline Pilot environment to solve more complex problems, and to reach a broader audience of users through the flexible deployment of validated processing routines.”

Earlier this month, Tripos announced plans to provide its customers with more flexible options to develop, deploy and access core discovery informatics applications by adopting Web services and related service-oriented informatics (SOI) technologies. The agreement with SciTegic is a vital part of this strategy, providing customers with the ability to use innovative Tripos products such as UNITY(R), Concord(R) and LITHIUM(R) when creating and executing distributed discovery protocols using Pipeline Pilot.

“Workflow applications such as Pipeline Pilot have quickly become indispensable drug discovery informatics tools,” said Bryan Koontz, senior vice president and general manager of Discovery Informatics at Tripos. “SciTegic created this software category, and we are pleased to already be working closely with the company’s product development staff to provide our customers with integrated solutions to improve the performance and overall impact of Tripos software.”

Tripos plans to provide a standard set of discovery informatics components for Pipeline Pilot as part of its forthcoming Informatics Web Services Toolkit, scheduled to ship later this year. A Pipeline Pilot component for Concord, the industry’s leading 3-D structure generation application, is available now for download from SciTegic’s support Web site.
