Tripos Releases New Versions of Benchware LibraryMaker and Benchware LibraryDesigner; Customer-Requested Enhancements Provide Laboratory Chemists With Improved Ability to Enumerate and Design Compound Libraries
Tripos, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRPS), a leading provider of drug discovery informatics products and chemistry research, today announced the release of Benchware(R) LibraryMaker 6.0 and Benchware LibraryDesigner 2.4. This Microsoft(R) Windows(R)-based suite of tools gives laboratory chemists the power to quickly and accurately enumerate virtual compound libraries and design smaller compound libraries for synthesis.
“Our Parallel Synthesis group’s objective is to design, synthesize and test drug-like compounds on a large scale,” said Dr. Normand Hebert, director of parallel synthesis at SGX Pharmaceuticals, an oncology drug discovery company based in San Diego. “Using Benchware LibraryMaker and Benchware LibraryDesigner, we can do most of this work in virtual space before we ever commit to physically making and testing compounds. In the past, this would have strictly been the realm of computational scientists. As you can imagine, there is a large productivity gain associated with our chemists having access to such empowering tools.”
Product enhancements, which were made in direct response to customer requests from major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, include increased flexibility for handling compound-protecting groups and improved integration of popular third-party chemical sketchers. Benchware LibraryMaker’s powerful library enumeration functionality is also being integrated into Tripos’ Benchware Notebook, enabling full support of parallel chemistry workflows within an electronic laboratory notebook environment.
“With this new release, Tripos is further extending the use of important state-of-the art library enumeration and design technologies to frontline laboratory researchers,” said Dr. David Lowis, senior director of product management at Tripos. “This release marks another step in Tripos’ drive to enhance research productivity by empowering laboratory scientists with robust applications and scientific algorithms.”
