Tripos’ SYBYL 7.0 Discovery Software Suite Now Available; Molecular Modeling and Computational Chemistry Software for Drug Discovery

Tripos, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRPS), a leading provider of drug discovery informatics products and chemistry research, today announced the release of SYBYL(R) 7.0, the latest version of its expert molecular modeling environment for drug discovery research. Tripos’ longstanding customer-focused approach enables the company to offer the new software release on multiple platforms and includes a Linux operating system upgrade, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. The new SYBYL software contains numerous enhancements and expanded functionalities to existing applications, and is available in DVD and CD-ROM formats.

The release supports mobile computing requirements for computational chemists with its expanded software licensing capabilities for laptop computers. New “borrowable” SYBYL licenses allow laptop users to disconnect a set of licenses from their network license server, providing the flexibility to complete modeling activities remotely. A white paper titled “Making In Silico Drug Discovery Broadly Accessible: SYBYL on the IBM ThinkPad” describes the advantages of laptop licensing and is available at http://www.tripos.com/sybyl/laptop.html .

Tripos’ expanded technical support capabilities coincide with the new SYBYL 7.0 software release. The company’s Technical Support Online Web site, http://support.tripos.com , has been restructured and provides instant access to numerous features and information, including a searchable knowledgebase, downloadable software scripts, immediate access to software patches and updates, and new product-specific sections relating to Tripos software.

“Tripos will uphold its tradition of industry leadership and continue to build upon its strong technology foundation by providing scientifically solid in silico solutions that reside in a truly integrated environment. Staying close to our customers and listening carefully to their needs enabled us to introduce the entire suite of SYBYL products on Linux more than 18 months ago, and we are pleased to be able to offer our customers the upgrade to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0,” said Dr. Trevor Heritage, senior vice president and general manager of discovery informatics at Tripos.
