Two BioDiscovery Applications Achieve GeneChip-compatible™ Status with the Affymetrix GeneChip® Microarray Platform

BioDiscovery, Inc. today announced that two of its products have achieved GeneChip-compatible™ status with the Affymetrix Inc. GeneChip microarray platform and that it has joined Affymetrix GeneChip-compatible™ Applications Program, which provides customers with a broad spectrum of software solutions for biomedical research and development. As a GeneChip-compatible software provider, BioDiscovery, Inc. is committed to seamlessly integrating its GeneDirector® and GeneSight® products with Affymetrix technology.

GeneDirector® is a comprehensive data management solution for information generated throughout the entire array experiment workflow, including sample preparation, protocols, hybridization, image and data analysis. GeneDirector features integrated tools and functionality which include full GCOS integration supporting the Affymetrix platform. It is designed to be both flexible and customizable to meet any laboratory requirements. The centralized data management functionality allows immediate data access, impenetrable security, and cross experiment analysis.

GeneSight® combines advanced normalization, visualization, and statistical decision support tools into a single powerful package. The unique Confidence Analyzer tool can use replicated gene expression data for identifying genes having true differential expression. The Significance Analyzer tool can determine genes with statistically significant expression patterns and differentiate between classes of experimental conditions, such as disease states. The Integrated Annotation Complier supports Affymetrix annotation files and annotations from other public databases.

“BioDiscovery is delighted that two of its products have achieved GeneChip-compatible status with Affymetrix,” said Dr. Soheil Shams, President of BioDiscovery, “Our mission is to provide solutions and services to enable our customers to revolutionize drug discovery and diagnostics. We see this integration between GeneDirector, GeneSight, and the Affymetrix GeneChip® microarray platform as another vital component of our mission.”

“Data management and data analysis technologies are key components for any successful high volume GeneChip laboratory” said Steve Lincoln, vice president of Informatics at Affymetrix. “We look forward to continuing our longstanding interaction with BioDiscovery to establish key standards in the marketplace and maintain compatibility as our GeneChip technology continues to evolve.”
