U.S. Air Force Labs Adopt Rescentris Electronic Lab Notebook
Rescentris Ltd. announced today that the Cellular Dynamics & Engineering Program at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) has deployed its Collaborative Electronic Research Framework(TM) (CERF) solution for electronic lab notebooks. CERF is a robust information management solution that centralizes business policies, data organization, and intellectual property capture, in a secure, 21 CFR 11 compliant system designed for use by life scientists.
WPAFB reports increased research productivity by transitioning from paper to electronic record-keeping using CERF. Their managers sought to capture their data and document their research activities while improving the ability to track, share, and rapidly find, retrieve, and reuse their R&D information that is of national importance. The solution had to meet their scientific and legal requirements, but also provide robust support for custom workflows and protocols. The Air Force Labs expect to realize long term savings with CERF by avoiding paper archival costs and by making all data easily searchable and available to future researchers, as well as immediate savings by reducing unnecessary duplication of experiments.
According to Chris Geib, a contracted Information Technology Manager at WPAFB, “We needed an electronic lab notebook system that was highly secure and easy to use. Other products did not support the richness and diversity of our research. We’re very pleased to have a close relationship with Rescentris. We worked together on their Ontology Manager – it allows us to rapidly customize CERF without programming to create data models, forms, and experiment templates for our scientists. Our experience so far has been very positive, and CERF is a candidate for being a Department of Defense standard piece of software for life sciences research efforts.”
“We are delighted that after an extensive evaluation of other solutions in the industry the U.S. Air Force Labs chose our CERF product as the best,” said Dr Adel Mikhail, Rescentris CEO. “This is a great opportunity. We are actively seeking a premiere strategic partner to help us deliver customized electronic lab notebook solutions to other government agencies we’ve been working with.”
