VelQuest’s SmartLab GMP Electronic Notebook System is Selected by AstraZeneca for their Global eLab Project

VelQuest, the developer of a paperless compliance management system for pharmaceutical quality laboratory operations, announced today that AstraZeneca selected VelQuest for their global quality eLab informatics IT architecture. The SmartLab™ GMP Electronic Notebook System will automate AstraZeneca’s QC/QA lab operations in a multi-tiered architecture with integration to a commercial Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and ERP system. The SmartLab system will provide electronic display of test methods and SOP’s to the analyst, capture and catalog all QC data directly from analytical instruments and chromatography data systems, provide an electronic dashboard of all results for QA review and approval and automatically transfer quality data to a LIMS for final evaluation and approvals. This solution provides a paperless process that significantly reduces overall lab cycle times and costs associated with traditional paper-based methods.
After a formal evaluation and RFP process, VelQuest’s SmartLab technology was found to be best suited for AstraZeneca’s Quality Operations’ Laboratories. VelQuest’s SmartLab platform is a unique lab execution system that complements the LIMS administrative functions with an off-the shelf solution enabling a very rapid delivery program. This architecture will ensure alignment of cGMP lab processes for global QC data management at AstraZeneca.
