Wallingford Software’s InfoNet version 4.0 to support Oracle and SQL Server

Wallingford Software announces today that the next release of its asset management solution, InfoNet version 4.0, will further integrate InfoNet with other key software solutions – database systems and InfoWorks. InfoNet is an enterprise asset and data management system purpose-built for water networks – water supply, water distribution, wastewater collection, sewers and storm water.

One of the most important new developments, invaluable to owners of large asset bases, is support for master databases hosted on Oracle 9 and 10, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005. Many of the largest corporate users already hold their main databases on these systems, and this new development will allow them to access and manage their extensive historical asset information by using InfoNet as their enterprise solution.

Further integration between InfoNet and InfoWorks WS is also a major advance. Hydraulic models can also be built semi-automatically and updated from InfoNet’s asset data, speeding up the previously time-consuming task for modelers of keeping asset data and the model synchronized. InfoNet Global Product Manager Stuart Dodd says: ‘Critically, the method of input is not only very simple to use, but also auditable, meaning that the provenance, and therefore the level of trust, of all data is known.’

For users who have the requirement, data can also be moved from an InfoWorks hydraulic model into InfoNet so that it can become part of the asset management database, which should be the master repository for all data about the water supply network.

Stuart Dodd continues: ‘This new release will contain a number of further specific enhancements – handling a greater range of types of survey, smoke tests using survey triangulation, and extensions to manhole surveys for example, and features that link assets more closely to relevant incident reports. All of these new advances are designed with a clear strategic direction for InfoNet – to meet the needs of asset managers not only to access all of their asset management data with ease, but also to manipulate and use it effectively, and provide a clear, auditable trail of data for regulatory purposes. InfoNet version 4.0 fulfils these requirements.’ www.wallingfordsoftware.com
