Water Environment Federation (WEF)

Water Environment Federation (WEF) was Founded in 1928, WEF is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization. Our members are from varied disciplines and they collaborate with staff to realize the WEF vision of preservation and enhancement of the global water environment. The WEF network includes water quality professionals from 79 Member Associations in over 32 countries.

WEF is comprised of individual members and Member Associations. Our individual members are from diverse backgrounds, they are: engineers, public and private plant operators and managers, students, laboratory technicians, wastewater consultants, industrial operations, retired wastewater professionals, and public officials.

WEF focuses on not only point sources of pollution (i.e., pollution caused by direct sewage discharge into public waters), but nonpoint sources of pollution as well (i.e., pollution caused by indirect contamination of water, for instance, run-off of fertilizers into a river via stormwater).
