OMNITEC Solutions, Inc. (www.omnitecinc.com) has a junior-level employment opportunity supporting the NIMH Data Archive, an effort to make NIH research data available through a common infrastructure at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). See nda.nih.gov to gain an understanding of the project size and scope.

This position will support users of the NIMH Data Archive, primarily via the Help Desk, but also contributing to administrative and coordination functions.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to hours of Help Desk operation, we are hiring for a +/- 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday schedule.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing basic and advanced Help Desk support to users of the NIMH Data Archive (NDA) answering questions, creating and updating accounts, troubleshooting issues, assisting with user requests, and keeping track of tickets;
  • Managing Help Desk macros, documentation, standard language, and procedures;
  • Providing technical and administrative support to NIMH and NIMH Data Archive staff including data entry, creation of SQL queries, and reports on Help Desk activity and other metrics;
  • Updating and maintaining the web content management system;
  • Updating the Knowledge Base and Frequently Asked Questions;
  • Contributing to team and project activities, including communications, documentation, and program coordination in a collaborative team environment;
  • Serving as a reliable and customer service-oriented point of contact for the research community.

Required Skills:

  • Because this work requires access to federal work sites and/or systems, US Citizenship and the ability to pass a minimal background investigation/MBI are required;
  • 3 years of relevant work experience, with a verifiable ability to be a successful contributor in a highly collaborative team environment; 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously via strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • The ability to work fulltime onsite at the NIMH offices on Executive Blvd. in Rockville, MD, 20850.

Helpful Skills

  • 4 year college degree highly preferred;
  • Experience with HTML;
  • SQL skills, or the willingness and ability to learn SQL skills if not already familiar with;
  • Interest and willingness to learn new systems as needed;
  • An understanding of human subjects research and/or grants management.
