Zix Corporation Selected by Piedmont Medical Laboratory for Lab Connectivity Services
Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(R)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of secure e-messaging, e-prescribing, and e-transaction applications and services, today announced that Piedmont Medical Laboratory, a Virginia-based facility serving a 17-county service region, has signed a three-year contract for ZixCorp’s Dr. Chart(R) service to provide laboratory client connectivity.
“Dr. Chart will help us stay competitive with the national labs,” said Desiree Kardashian, director of finance and interim co-chief executive officer for Piedmont. “The flexibility of Dr. Chart to interface directly with practice management systems and be accessed via a Web browser is helpful to physicians. This automation will also help improve the efficiency of our billing system. We plan to significantly increase our current client base, and Dr. Chart will help us achieve that goal.”
Dr. Chart is a Web-based communications tool that connects healthcare providers and laboratories. It enables doctors to initiate lab orders, check medical necessity compliance, and view results rapidly and accurately using an encrypted Internet connection. The service automates several processes that normally place a burden on laboratory operations.
