ABBOTT INFORMATICS LAUNCHES STARLIMS LIFE SCIENCES SOLUTION CL 11.0

October 11th, 2018 – Hollywood, FL. Abbott Informatics is pleased to announce the launch of version 11.0 of the STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution, the company’s laboratory information management system (LIMS) platform for Pre-Clinical, Clinical Research, Biorepository, Molecular, and Academic Research. Built on the latest, STARLIMS Technology Platform 11.6, STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution features intuitive, user-friendly enhancements for streamlining sample management, simplifying accessioning, interfacing with third party instruments and the conversion to HTML5 web platform.clinical-release.pngKey software upgrades are designed to increase lab flexibility, productivity and efficiency, and reduce the complexities of working with different software platforms. Laboratories make major investments in analytical equipment, but interfacing proprietary instrument software directly with some LIMS can be problematic. A partnership between Abbott Informatics and Data Innovation means that the STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution can now connect directly with an even wider range of third party instrumentation, allowing seamless two-way communication to and from the LIMS, and direct results transfer.  Thanks to the DI Integration Utility, which is integral to the latest STARLIMS technology infrastructure, laboratories working with the STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution will have more freedom to choose their analytical instrumentation based on scientific and business requirements, rather than what will work with their LIMS, and without the headache of acquiring and installing conversion tools or developing in house workarounds.

STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution has also been converted to HTML5 using our latest technology HTML5 converter, which aids in a faster and simpler conversion. The new capabilities, built into the technology platform, expands the collection of internet browsers that can be converted to HTML5, making this version of the platform even more versatile, and minimizing IT headaches and delays.

2D barcode accessioning speeds sample order data entry and test requisitioning, enabling increased sample testing throughput, and dramatically reducing manual data entry and the risk of errors. An intuitive dashboard makes it easy for users to configure the scope and content of sample information itemized in a 2D barcode tagged to the test requisition form (TRF). Sample accessioning can be completed simply by scanning the barcode on the TRF, without the need to enter accession data manually. It’s fast, secure and configurable to laboratory rules and workflows.

STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution CL 11.0 is the second phase in a series of functional upgrades to the platform that are expected over the coming months. Planned future enhancements, will support workflow consolidation, complex molecular testing and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows*. Future enhancements will also expand our interoperability capabilities, which will provide and easy and configurable bi-directional HL7 interface and an API to send orders, query samples, and obtain reports of released results*.

STARLIMS Life Sciences Solution includes all of the upgrades released in the previous version of the software suite, including eManifest for management of clinical, trials and biorepository samples, enhanced Advanced Analytics for improving QC management and lab productivity, and improved security and mobile functionality.

* Planned future enhancements are subject to change.
