Request for Proposal for an on-site, locally installed software-based Laboratory Information Management System (“LIMS”) solution for a modern drinking-water quality laboratory operation within the Chesterfield County Utilities Department, Chesterfield County, Virginia.Quality Control and the University Application of a COTS LIMS
Proper quality control is critical for the production of any valid laboratory data, whether regulatory or research. However, how this quality control is applied may vary greatly depending upon the application. In the regulated environmental community, set rules are applied to the type, limits of and number of quality control samples. These rules are well established and published by various organizations.Quality Control and the University Application of a COTS LIMS

Agile LIMS Implementation – A Challenge
The Agile methodology is a time boxed methodology that uses an iterative approach to rapidly develop, test, and deliver functionality. While this method has had a wide utilization in the IT field, there are several concerns and issues that can make it problematic for the implementation of LIMS, especially in a regulated environment.Agile LIMS Implementation – A Challenge
Laboratory Informatics Weekly Update – Volume 14, Issue 39
October 05, 2016 Laboratory Informatics Weekly Update Volume 14, Issue 39 In This Issue Webcast Focus OCTOBER 19, 2016 2:00PM EDT: "Oh the Places You'll Go" - The Future of Lab Informatics In this final CSols’ webinar of calendar year 2016, we will review the current state of Lab Informatics, and through an understanding of what has happened in the past, peer over the horizon to examine what the future may hold. Event Focus FEBRUARY 19 - 24, 2017: Molecular Med Tri-Con Why is the Tri-Conference the Premier Event on Molecular Medicine & Diagnostics? If you are working in diagnostics…Molmil: A molecular viewer for the PDB and beyond
To encourage a move to allow mobile devices to better take advantage of molecular viewing techniques without having to create an application for every OS and environment, why not take advantage of more powerful GPU hardware accelleration in mobile devices? This is the train of thought Bekker et al. take with their open-source, browser-based molecular viewing software Molmil, used extensively on the Protein Data Bank Japan project. Adding in support for highly detailed polygon models, realistic shaders, easy loading and saving of files, and a command-line interface, the group touts Molil as a strong option for the mobile environment. This 2016 paper further describes the software and its implementation.
