Transforming Laboratories with Increased LIMS Integration and Automation

Laboratory information management systems (LIMS) are experiencing a significant shift marked by heightened integration and automation, revolutionizing lab operations globally. This transformation aims to boost efficiency, accuracy, and productivity across laboratories. LabLynx LIMS emerges as a frontrunner in this evolution, exemplifying the importance of integration and automation in enhancing laboratory management.[Read More]

Enhancing Benchtop Sequencers with a LIMS System

Benchtop sequencers are compact and adaptable devices that create new pathways for small labs to impact both research and clinical settings significantly. These sequencers operate at the point of need, providing rapid results, which is critical when patient care and outcomes are at stake. When supported by appropriate tools and resources, such as a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS System) like Sapio Sciences, these benchtop sequencers can deliver results more efficiently, leading to better patient outcomes and a more comprehensive reach of genomic research. Streamline Your Lab’s Operations with Robust Sample Management and Inventory Management

Sample management and inventory management are two essential but distinct processes that labs use to stay organized. Most labs make sample management a priority, using a laboratory information management system (LIMS) or other software to simplify the process. However, monitoring and managing consumable inventory is equally important for efficient operations, especially for labs planning to increase throughput or scale up their business. Despite the importance of inventory management, many labs use a piecemeal approach that could be improved with an all-in-one solution.  [Read More]

LIMS Data Migration: How to Ace the Journey from Planning to Post-Migration Evaluation

Data migration, at its core, appears deceptively simple—a process aimed at transferring data from an old system to a new one. When performed well, labs are better positioned to derive more value from their laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and their data. However, LIMS data migration can be quite complex and risky if not executed correctly. Between lost data, data format conversion complexities, data security concerns, and increased costs, LIMS data migration failures can threaten business continuity and push labs past the point of no return. [Read More]

Streamlining Data Migration for LIMS

Data migration can be a daunting task for laboratories looking to transition to a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The process of transferring data from one system to another requires careful planning, execution, and validation to ensure that all data is accurately transferred and accessible in the new system. In this blog post, we will dive into the data migration for LIMS.  [Read More]

The Different Types of Electronic Lab Notebook

Data entry in laboratories was previously performed using physical notebooks. Not only was this tedious, but it also resulted in errors and inefficiency in operations. With the advent of Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) software, traditional notebooks became obsolete. While this led to improved efficiency and collaboration, a wide variety of ELNs started appearing on the market, making it difficult for labs to find the right solution. If you are in a similar situation, here’s a comprehensive guide to the different types of electronic lab notebooks available. [Read More]

Introduction to Data Science

This is an IBM-created course that is released on the edX platform. The introductory six-week course will have you "meet some big data science practitioners and we will get an overview of what data science is today." The course is free to take. A verified certificate of completion, via a Verified track from IBM, is available afterwards for $99 USD. The class began in early 2024, and the free audit track expires June 24.

Computational Thinking and Big Data

This is an advanced University of Adelaide-created course that is released on the edX platform, and is part of a university MicroMasters Program. The scheduled 10-week course is designed to help learners to better "apply computational thinking in data science" using tools such as "mathematical representations, probabilistic and statistical models, dimension reduction and Bayesian models." The course is free; a certificate of completion costs $249. The course requires on average eight to 10 hours a week of effort. Access to the class is on-demand. The class began in May 2024, and the audit track for the class closes on July 22.
