Review at Fundamental laws of the Kingdom of France

Hi, Styyx,

What does it mean when an article is marked "reviewed"? Is it part of the new pages patrol, and does it indicate some kind of stamp of approval?

In this review you marked "Fundamental laws of the Kingdom of France" as "reviewed". I got the notification, because I had created it as a redirect, but by the time you saw it, it had been turned into an article by another editor. This article should never have been accepted as a mainspace article, being entirely unsourced, and an unattributed translation to boot. (See User talk:King Pius#Fundamental laws of the Kingdom of France.) I moved it to Draft space (Draft:Fundamental laws of the Kingdom of France). Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:17, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It seems Styyx is at the top of the leader board for the current NPP backlog drive and with zero deletion nominations out of almost 800 reviews. Chris Troutman (talk) 00:23, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mathglot! Marking an article as reviewed doesn't mean it's untouchable. The revision I saw did cite sources, but had no inline citations, so it could stay with a {{No footnotes}} tag, or be draftified as you've done. Now, in the above leaderboard link, you can see that I have 103 draftifications, which is way more than anyone else, and I'm a bit sick of draftifying. I'm not objecting your draftification, it might have been the correct call for me to do it in the first place.
Btw Chris troutman, just like last time, the leaderboard currently doesn't count CSDs made with Twinkle. Considering I do all the tagging with Twinkle rather than page curation, my nominations will be added in the end. Also, I'm not rushing NPP just because of the drive: 768 patrols this month, compared to 694 last month until the 16th (when there was no backlog drive), which means there is an increase of just 74 more (~5 per day). Cheers. ~StyyxTalk? 01:03, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Styyx, thank you for the explanation; I really didn't understand the process. Also, I realize it's tricky when dealing with a translation; doubly so when it isn't marked or acknowledged as one, and it wasn't clear to me that it was a translation from a French article (and I do those myself all the time) until afterward. Thanks again! Mathglot (talk) 01:57, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just had a look at your leaderboard graph and table; very impressive work by you, and everyone. Also, I can see why you're sick of draftifying ; carry on! Mathglot (talk) 02:43, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Women's Euro 2022 stats

Hey, you put the statistics page to draft. Would it be approved if I added links to the stats from external sites? Bullflower (talk) 16:39, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You need to add sources to these stats, which are currently unsourced. Then it can be moved back to the mainspace. I'd recommend waiting until the tournament is over, though. ~StyyxTalk? 16:50, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Matt Hicks (engineer)

I am not convinced of your decline at all. Can you please consider stating why all references do not meet the criterias (while several of them are very independent, third party notable stuff as they show Red Hat - ABB partnership and Matt's role as vice) instead of blankly saying "Its not notable"? Comrade-yutyo (talk) 08:45, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You really want me to do this again, huh? Going with the numbers as seen in the revision I declined.
  1. LinkedIn — Acceptable WP:ABOUTSELF usage, but not independent.
  2. Mentioned once, the source quotes a few sentences from him. No significant coverage.
  3. Only quotes Hicks talking about a Red Hat project. No SIGCOV about Hicks himself.
  4. Sinlge quote, no SIGCOV.
  5. This is an attributed copy of Ref 14, not a seperate source.
  6. Published by Red Hat. Not independent.
  7. Press release by Red Hat. Not independent.
  8. That same press release, copied by Business Wire, copied again by Yahoo – WP:PRSOURCE.
  9. Fully copy-paste of an email sent by the former CEO.
  10. "Hicks is the new CEO, he has worked with the company since 2006", the rest is "Hicks said X". I don't see any SIGCOV.
  11. "The Enterprisers Project, supported by Red Hat". Not independent.
  12. Not sure if you've got the correct link, I can't find anything related to Hicks.
  13. Hicks is only quoted saying stuff about Red Hat. No SIGCOV.
  14. Sections about Hicks are taken from Ref 7, the rest are quotes.
  15. Press release by Red Hat. Not independent.
  16. That same press release. There isn't any SIGCOV about Hicks anyway.
  17. There is a very tiny paragraphy about what Hicks did before becoming CEO, which still isn't SIGCOV. The rest is the shuffle announcement.
Seems like a pretty clear refbomb. This is the only time I'm going to comment on the sources. I'm not going to repeat the same shit again and again and again. Not to mention the amount of peacock terms you've managed to throw in an article of 270 words. This guy is not notable. ~StyyxTalk? 13:00, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Usedtobecool I thought that she was the mayor, not the deputy mayor. I think I got confused by the conflicting first and second sentences. Though I don't think this can be speedied with an A7. Maybe AfD? ~StyyxTalk? 10:22, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
G5 looked like a long shot to me, but happy to be wrong. IIRC, the infobox said she's been both mayor and deputy mayor. I wouldn't assume notability for mayors of small or unknown "cities" though. Notability guidelines have been getting stricter in the last few years and excepting a few, GNG is demanded demanded nowadays for everything. NPOL explicitly asks that local politicians should meet GNG. We can still assume mayors of Capital cities, world's most populous and most popular cities, etc. meet GNG but I would ask for proof for the rest. Regards! Moonspiel Because the article you created cites a single source. The subject might be notable, but the article in its current state doesn't show it. Hello dear reviewers,

I have been trying my very sincere best to fix this issue of "reliable source" that is making you reject my "draft" . The following message was sent : Sources are at the very end as a general list of references, but not as footnotws. See Wikipedia:Inline citation and Help:Footnotes.

It seems that I am not understanding exactly how to fix the issue and I am thinking that the reviewers are questioning the reliability of the sources I have mentioned. Many someone please help me into fixing the issue and not just revoking my submission please?

Many thanks for your comprehension and cooperative help.

Best regards, Mr.Fady Jeanbart

212.36.208.37 (talk) 08:06, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! The draft you are working on has a general list of references at the end. This style makes it impractical to find which source supports what statement, making verifiability difficult. Because of this, on Wikipedia, we mostly prefer to have inline citations. With this, you add the source directly after the sentence it's confirming:
  • A sentence in the article.<ref>The source that verifies the sentence</ref>
Which gives:
  • A sentence in the article.[1]

References

  1. ^ The source that verifies the sentence
Just like I said in the declining message, I recommend you to read Wikipedia:Inline citation and Help:Footnotes. If you have any other questions, you can let me know here, or if I take too long to respond, at the AfC help desk. ~StyyxTalk? 09:09, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Geliyoo

The article Geliyoo you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Geliyoo for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Page archives and reviews

Hello. I hope you enjoyed your Wikibreak. I have noticed it ended. So...

All of the following pages have been reviewed, but they didn’t “archived" the references like you do: Pedro Serra (footballer), Estebán Pelaó, Juan Pellicer, Manuel Cros, Juan Olivella, Antonio Alcázar, José Giralt, Alfonso Albéniz, Mario Giralt, José Giralt, José Berdié, José Carruana, José Irízar, Antonio Morales, Velódromo de la Bonanova, William Dyer (footballer), Willie Gold, David Mauchan, George Meyer (footballer), George Girvan, Stanley Charles Harris, Vicente Reig, John Hamilton (Barcelona footballer). When you feel like it could you "archive" the references of these pages, please?

By the way, these pages haven’t even been reviewed: Alfonso Olaso, Enrique Normand,‎ Escocès FC, Francisco Vinyals, Joseph Black (footballer), Plácido Álvarez-Buylla, James Reeves (footballer), Jaime Vila, English Colony of Barcelona Football Team, 1894 Bilbao students v British workers football match.

Thank you very much. Guess you were right. There are more people reviewing my pages now.Clenixon (talk) 00:00, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The bot that made those archives was down for a few days, but now it's back. I'll look at them when I'm on my computer. ~StyyxTalk? 07:58, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello friend

Hello friend! Thank you for doing this. Could you please explain it to me how to do archiving and saving websites from getting link rot? --Haoreima (talk) 11:25, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Haoreima! It's done via IABot. If you click on the link you will have to type the article name. You can also go to the article history and click the "Fix dead links" found at the external links section. In both cases, you have to tick the "Add archives to all non-dead references (Optional)" box before proceeding. It'll take 20 to 90 seconds, depending on the amount of references, and then the edit will be automatically saved. ~StyyxTalk? 13:22, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
