Gunhawk

Hi. Gunhawk, created by Joe Maneeley in the 1950s, is an unnamed bounty Hunter and not Reno Jones of The Gunhawks. Reno Jones survives Blaze of Glory but Caleb Hammer shoots Gunhawk dead in Blaze of Glory. Two different people. Could you restore Gunhawk so it doesn’t redirect to The Gunhawks? —Make Mine 90s Marvel (talk) 14:34, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies! @Make Mine 90s Marvel I've undone my edit, you'll likely be challenged about the lack of sources on the article, and lack of categories, so be sure to add those. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 15:06, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2021 in Vatican City requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatican-city/news/2021-01/vatican-museums-reopening-february-barbara-jatta.html, https://www.reuters.com/article/vatican-australia-idINKBN29C1PV, and https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/246311/cardinal-parolin-brings-message-of-peace-and-reconciliation-to-cameroon. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fram (talk) 13:33, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fram, this used text from the Current Events portal, are we really using copyrighted text on that page also? I've made some slight adjustments, one of the links is claiming the term 'vatican city state' as the reason for the detection which seems a bit ridiculous. Thief-River-Faller (talk) 13:42, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sure looks that way (if you create a page copying text from e.g. that portal, you need to say so in the edit summary: both for attribution purposes, and because people then can know that the problem is not with your edit, but with the source for them). I have listed 3 instances of copyvio, there are probably more (would be quite a coincidence that I just spotted all copyvio lines). Fram (talk) 13:47, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone through and fixed the three listed (rephrasing and deleting un-needed detail), one confusing phrase on the Duplicate detector is 'cardinal parolin brings message of peace and reconciliation to cameroon' which no longer appears in my article, do you have any idea why that would still be flagged? Thief-River-Faller (talk) 13:53, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. E.g. the last entry is partially a straight copy of this, the 20 September entry is straight from this... I hope we haven't uncovered some widespread issue with the Portal:Current Events pages! Fram (talk) 14:05, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So do I, Fram! TRF, as Fram says here, and I've said at Talk:2021 in Vatican City, under the terms of our licence, copying within Wikipedia requires attribution. If at any time, recent or not, you have copied Wikipedia content into other Wikipedia pages, please now provide the necessary attribution. The preferred method for this is with a {{copied}} template on the talk-page of both the articles, but a dummy edit with a summary along the lines of "content from revision xxxxx of [article foo] was copied here in revision yyyyy" is probably sufficient for limited amounts of copying. Of course if the copied content is in fact a copyvio then it'll have to be removed from both pages anyway. As for 2021 in Vatican City, there's a link in the blanking template to a temporary rewrite page; if you decide to rewrite, please don't copy over any compromised content from the current version of the article, as that will render your rewrite unusable. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:31, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation @Justlettersandnumbers, i'll go through and add in the template to any pages I've recently created, there's only a small amount where I've copied over information from the portal, most of the pages have very 'straight to the point' headlines that I typed up, but I know there's a select few where I copied over information.
I'll also completely re-write the Vatican article..I don't know whether to feel guilty or happy that we've discovered this wider issue, but I do appreciate you explaining the issues, I'll know not to copy/paste from the portal moving forward. When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. If you've copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor. 2023 in the Philippines

Thank you very much for your contributions to 2023 in the Philippines, particularly mirroring them with Philippines-related entries on Portal:Current events. We appreciate it if you can continue with those contributions. But first, here are a few pointers:

  1. Please use Template:Cite news for your citations and please follow the consistency of the date format on Philippines-related pages (MM-DD-YYYY). The format also applies to citations.
  2. If the entry is part of a larger event, similar to the current events portal, please link it this way.
  3. I commend you for writing your entries in present tense, just like the current events portal.
  4. Please be more mindful with your edits, including your citations. Ensure that you preview your edits and review them (especially your citations) before saving them.
  5. In connection to #4, kindly ensure that there are no redundancies when mirroring entries from the current events portal to 2023 in the Philippines. For example, with this edit , I removed "Philippines" (and replaced it with the province instead) since the context of the page is the Philippines anyways.

Thanks for taking your time to read this. Kindly also check the link in #2 to visualize my pointers. Cheers! signed, Pat talk 08:05, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into 2023 in Ukraine. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:57, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Crystal balling and advertising

Advertising future wrestling shows is not permitted as you did on Professional wrestling in Australia in adding next month's New Japan show in Sydney. I have removed it. It is also crystal balling which is also not permitted. Without secondary and reliable coverage pre show, there is no guarantee the show will take place. You can add it after the show takes place where such rules no longer apply. Addicted4517 (talk) 08:58, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Abror Tursunov has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject isn't notable, filmography is sourced to a user generated source, and overall a short page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
