Premiere Health Site to Be Translated in China: Lab Tests Online-China to Launch in November

Chicago, IL, July 22, 2009       AACC announced an agreement today with the Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine (CSLM) for the development of a Chinese version of Lab Tests Online (www.labtestsonline.org), AACC’s award-winning patient resource for information on laboratory testing.  CSLM expects to launch the new site in November.

The Chinese agreement expands the global network of Lab Tests Online sites and means that the valued content will be available in 13 countries and 11 languages by the end of the year.   The agreement also marks the first significant collaboration between AACC and CSLM.  In a first for Lab Tests Online, CSLM has committed to creating a print version of the site to better reach those areas of the country that do not have Internet access.

AACC President Barbara Goldsmith, Ph.D., and CSLM President Hong Shang, M.D., signed the agreement during a banquet ceremony last night at the Chicago Symphony Center.  Attending the banquet were the presidents and representatives from more than 25 laboratory societies around the world.  Editors from Lab Tests Online sites in six countries were also in attendance.  All are in Chicago for AACC’s 61st Annual Meeting.

Originally developed by AACC in collaboration with 18 other laboratory associations, Lab Tests Online is the only non-commercial, patient-centered website that is reviewed and approved by the laboratory professionals who do the testing prescribed by doctors.  AACC began to license the site to laboratory groups in other countries soon after the US site launched in 2001.  The first international version went live in the United Kingdom in June 2004.  Today, with 10 versions currently online, worldwide traffic to Lab Tests Online is approaching 2 million visitors per month.
