“In response to the 88th Legislature, TX Senate Bill (SB) 991, for the establishment of a crime laboratory portal, the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) Crime Lab Division (CLD), is seeking current information on a records portal allowing various stakeholders in the criminal justice system access to lab-related records. This system will facilitate the process of requesting crime laboratory records and transferring those records among crime laboratories, attorneys representing the state, and parties authorized to access the records as a part of discovery. The portal may not be used as a central repository for crime laboratory records.”
