“The Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey’s National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) is the nation’s only Federal facility focused on investigating, preventing, and controlling diseases in free-ranging wildlife. We are seeking a user-friendly, enterprise Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for efficient management of processes, information, and data associated with a biosafety level 3 veterinary diagnostic and research laboratory. Minimal customization or configuration may be necessary. The new LIMS will replace a disparate collection of databases, spreadsheets, and paper documents … Current NWHC data systems and processes for specimen and information flow were developed ad hoc to meet specific needs of individuals or laboratories. This resulted in inefficient and redundant procedures for moving information and samples through diagnostic evaluation and research processes. Subsequently, information, data, and digital artifacts can be found across numerous databases, spreadsheets, and paper documents. Modernization of our laboratories’ data systems is needed to centralize data and improve efficiencies to collect, retrieve, analyze, and share information.”
